- Katinka Naustdal

What is your background?
I started working at Orkla IT straight after finishing university. I received a Master`s Degree in Business with a major in Supply Chain Management and also completed a Bachelor`s Degree in Entrepreneurship and Business – both from BI (Oslo Business School).

What is your role?
I work as a Program Manager, Service Delivery in Orkla IT which means that I am directly responsible for the deliverables and continual improvement of IT projects delivered form Cognizant (Orkla’s Outsourcing partner).

What is the best part of working here?
Technology is changing rapidly and when you work in Orkla IT – you really are a part of that change. There are constantly things changing and new initiatives related to how we work with IT in Orkla which as a result generates many opportunities for us who work within this area. This is a workplace where it is impossible to ever get bored and internal growth and development is strongly encouraged at every level.

How does Orkla differ from other companies, especially within the FMCG sector?
In Orkla, you get to be a part of the whole Value Chain which really allows you to feel the impact of what you do. They also really encourage internal growth amongst employees and there are many great opportunities available within the organisation.

How did you find the transition from being a new graduate/student to full-time employee at Orkla? What advice would you give to others starting out?
I was a bit nervous before I started. However, when I first began I was assigned a mentor to help me get started and show me the ropes. This made everything much easier and I was able to ask all kinds of questions without the risk of feeling silly. As a result of this, my transition was much smoother and easier versus what I had feared most before starting. My advice to others is not be scared to ask questions or to ask for help if you don’t know something or get stuck. It is never a reflection of you not knowing enough because everyone knows you are learning so questions are a natural part of that process.  And it is a great way to get to know the organization and to learn quicker. When you are fresh from school everything is new and people don’t expect that you will know everything!

What is your favourite product and why?
Smash – I just love the sweet and salty combo. It is truly addictive!
