Your Role and Impact

As Sustainability Manager (Packaging), you will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding the packaging sustainability agenda across Orkla Snacks. You will ensure that packaging strategies, innovation pipelines, and operational practices are fully aligned with evolving regulatory requirements—especially the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)—as well as sustainability targets and business priorities.

Acting as a key bridge between sustainability, packaging development, and business units, you will translate complex regulatory frameworks into actionable initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to compliance, while enabling long-term value through circular and future-ready packaging solutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert on PPWR and packaging-related regulation, translating requirements into business actions and roadmaps
  • Monitor EU and local packaging legislation, identifying risks, opportunities, and required changes
  • Drive compliance readiness across markets, including recyclability, reuse targets, and material restrictions
  • Lead the implementation of the packaging sustainability strategy aligned with ESG targets
  • Define KPIs and deliver initiatives related to recyclability, circularity, material optimization, and waste reduction
  • Ensure alignment between packaging innovation pipelines and sustainability commitments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Packaging Development, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial teams
  • Partner with group sustainability functions to ensure alignment with overall direction
  • Define and track packaging sustainability KPIs and support ESG reporting
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Build internal capabilities and drive understanding of sustainable packaging and PPWR requirements across the organization

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a driven and resilient sustainability professional who combines deep regulatory understanding with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset. You are comfortable operating in a matrix organization and excel at connecting different functions to deliver results.

You bring strong expertise in packaging sustainability and EU regulations, combined with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear actions. With a proactive and collaborative approach, you inspire others, build alignment, and drive change across markets.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Packaging, Material Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in packaging, sustainability, or R&D
  • Strong experience with EU regulatory frameworks, ideally including packaging legislation
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional projects in a matrix organization
  • Experience from FMCG or a similar industry
  • Experience with packaging sustainability initiatives such as recyclability or material transitions
  • Understanding of circular economy principles and ESG frameworks
  • Experience with supplier collaboration and material innovation

Personal Attributes

  • Strong drive for results
  • High level of resilience
  • Ability to engage and bring others on board
  • Confident decision-making skills

Other Requirements

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong understanding of PPWR and EU packaging legislation
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into business actions
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capability
  • Excellent communication skills across functions and markets
