Profile of Role

Reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, the successful individual will be a key member of the product marketing team responsible for helping to implement product strategy and range management across all Healthspan brands.

 

The Product Marketing team’s work is central to business success as product excellence and innovation are primary motivations for both existing and new customers to continue to engage with the Healthspan brands.

 

The work will vary with the development of new and existing products covering a wide range of benefits, from health, through sport, beauty, and pets. The successful candidate will see products develop from customer insight through formula development, packaging design, and marketing communications.

 

Ensuring Healthspan products appeal to a range of different customer types, while maintaining commercial viability through competitive pricing, is key.

 

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic member of the team, with a passion for marketing, health and wellbeing, and a strong desire to learn and grow. 

 

Key tasks and responsibilities

Product Analysis:

Utilising the data available, monitor and report on product and category performance.

• Develop an understanding of the key products and most important categories for the business to help guide and focus the activities of the wider commercial teams.

• Understand how to identify and suggest ways to focus on underperforming products, and maximise trending products/categories.

• Assist in ongoing opportunities across multiple channels to up-sell and cross-sell within the range, to drive customer spend and profitability. 

 

Portfolio Management

Optimise the range size and structure and ensure that it remains relevant and appealing, and profitability is optimised.

• Take part in ongoing range and category reviews to help rationalisation the range.

• Establish Good/Better/Best propositions across our key categories and ranges to help us merchandise and improve customer understanding and reduce confusion.

• Monitor high stock situations and communicate products at risk to key stakeholders to mitigate and reduce stock risk early. 

• Competitor monitoring to ensure our formulations and pricing remain competitive. 

 

New Product Development (NPD)

 Propose new product opportunities and manage the new product development process.

• Help identify market need and potential of new products through customer research, market data, competitor analysis and brainstorming.

• Assist in briefing and trafficking of information to internal teams.

• Help create and collate NPD Launch briefs that include background, rationale, insights, positioning, allowed health claims, price comparison and technical information; circulate briefs to relevant stakeholders.

• As a key user of the marketing PIM, ensure all product information is up to date and all relevant people are kept informed of any changes to products as necessary. 

• Help maintain a master schedule of new product ideas, discontinued lists, product improvements, and other relevant activity across the year by brand. 

 

Product Positioning

Ensure that products proposition is appealing and consistent in all communications.

• Understand the key products and categories that are strategically important to business performance

• Providing product information to all teams, from unique selling points to story-telling and provenance, highlighting any sustainable messaging and health benefits.

• Ensuring our products are well understood and clearly defined in terms of quality, categorisation, and positioning, throughout the wider business. 

• Working with digital marketing to improve categorisation and merchandising across our websites and our different brands.

• Help to deliver training on new products and improved formulations to wider marketing teams and the call centre. 

 

Pricing and Promos

Helping to develop and establish a compelling price proposition for new and existing customers in all channels and markets

• Assist in regular reporting on our pricing and competitor comparison tools to track market movements and understand our position in the wider market 

• Work with the team to produce, verify and upload monthly price lists and promotions

• Understand how cost of goods, packaging and fulfilment costs impact the RRP and profitability of our products 

 

Packaging and Sustainability

Working towards more sustainable and omni-channel packaging and despatch solutions

• Collaborate with other departments and external parties to strive for more sustainable and commercially viable packaging solution.

• Assist with artwork briefs and collaborate with other teams and designers on new and reworked product packaging designs.

• Help to approve product packaging changes paying close attention to brand consistency and product copy and USPs 

 

Essential criteria

• Excellent academic record (minimum A level standard)

• Passion for marketing

• Highly numerate
