Orkla House Care is 100% owned by Orkla ASA. Orkla House Care is a leading provider of brushes, rollers and other painting tools. The main markets are the Nordic countries, Benelux and the UK. The main proprietary brands are Jordan, Harris, Anza, Spekter, SAM and Hamilton. Sales are mainly through paint shops and DIY stores. The business has around 750 employees and the total business has a turnover of approximately 1,5 billion Norwegian kroner. Most of the products are self-produced and distributed through Bankeryd in Sweden, and Bromsgrove in the UK. The head office is at Skøyen in Oslo.

International Sales is responsible for developing Orkla House Care’s business through local distributors in around 50 countries worldwide. The International Market Manager will assume responsibility to develop the business in a selection of countries. This is a highly versatile role combining elements of Sales, Business Development and Marketing. 

 

 

Your key responsibilities will be: 

Analysis:

  • Analyze available data with the aim to identify business opportunities and build strong business cases. 

 

Value creation:  

  • Develop local sales & marketing plans and oversee their execution by distributors. 
  • Sell in commercial initiatives, e.g. new product launches and promotions, to distributors and make sure these are successfully executed. 
  • Contribute to the development of the commercial toolbox by relaying local market insight from international markets into the central marketing organization. Active participation in the preparation of new product launches. 
  • Develop long-term business development plans for new geographic areas, find and select new partners.  

 

Manage commercial relationships:  

  • Build strong business relations with distributors’ management and commercial team by proactively creating value for both parties. 
  • Build distributor’s capabilities through best-practice sharing & training. 
  • Negotiate and formalize distribution contracts. 
  • Secure the correct implementation of financial agreements with distributors. 

 

Internal organization:  

  • Develop Orkla House Care’s ability to succeed through close collaboration & insight-sharing with Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and the Sales function in other countries. 
    Actively contribute to development of Orkla House Care Ways-of-Working. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Academic – preferably with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, marketing, or economics. Relevant experience can compensate for a lack of formal education. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Marketing/Sales role, such as Brand manager, Key account manager, Trade marketing manager. 
  • Work with international distribution partnerships. 
  • Affinity and experience with branded consumer goods. 
  • A solid grasp of business understanding, commercial insight and a proven commercial track record. 
  • Experiance with commercial analysis. 
  • Good cross-cultural communication skills with the ability to influence others. 
  • Financial capabilities – can lead customer negotiations & build business cases. 
  • Good understanding of brand building, marketing, business development. 
  • Proficient IT skills (Powerpoint, Excel, Datawarehouse) 

 

Personal characteristics: 

  • Business oriented, results-driven and has strong implementation skills.  
  • Passion for consumers, brands, stores and business.
  • Proactive and self-driven. 
  • Creative and innovative.  
  • Analytical and structured.

 

Language:  

  • English (both spoken and written) 
  • Elementary level Scandinavian, German, French or Spanish (beneficial, however not a necessity)

This role is full-time (100%), and is preferably located in Oslo, but could work from our other offices (Bromsgrove, UK; Antwerpen, BE; Bankeryd, SE). 50 days of international travel should be expected for this position.
